Rimwall Summit via West Wind Pass trail Scramble on 1-Jun-2016
Wel,l our trip up Rimwall required a little more energy than anticipated as we headed up a trail marked with cairns, which was 100 metres South of the correct starting point. After following the trail for 20 minutes, we realized we weren't where we were supposed to be. We ended up doing some moderate bushwacking and had to lose 120 metres of vertical to get back on track. After regaining the proper trail, we followed Carl's route, up an easy treed rib, traversed left across a drainage higher up, and then gained the western most rib.

At treeline we took a snack break and then headed up the open rib on good footing to the ridge. After another short break out of the wind, which was gusting in moderate strength, we made our way to the summit of Rimwall Peak.

There were 2 short (3 metre) cliffbands which we had to negotiate between the ridge and the summit.

Other than a small patch of snow at the summit, the whole route was snow free.

On the way back we were able to enjoy a great scree run run down from the ridge. This chewed up about 20 percent of the elevation. We followed a rib marked with cairns back down to the main Wind Pass trail. Thanks to Ron, Ross, Damian, Chip, Philip and Rosanne for joining me Kevin (S/C) on a Wednesday outing in the mountains.
