We headed up the gully at a steady pace and took a rest break at the col on the SE ridge of Nestor. A pleasant breeze helped alleviate the warm temperatures.
We deviated from Kanes route and followed easy rock ribs up to the false summit of Nestor. The wind was blowing very hard on the upper section of the mountain. A short traverse and mildly exposed down climb brought the group to the summit of Mount Nestor.
There was a fair amount of haze to the south and west from forrest fires in Washington State. After a pleasant lunch sheltered from the wind, we retraced our steps back down the upper section of the ridge.
On the lower section, we descended an easier route, following a track all the way down into a vegetated gully just west of our ascent gully. We were back at the vehicles at 5 PM. Thanks to Inge, Damian, Jm and new member Bill for joining me Kevin (S/C) on an enjoyable mid week scramble in Kananaskis Country.
