Powderface Ridge - North to South Off-Trail Hike on 31-May-2015

It was a wonderful sunny day. We had enough people and vehicles to spot a couple of vehicles at the south end to return us to the north trailhead at the end of the day. At the north trailhead we found a note reporting a bear and cubs in the area on Saturday 8:30am. There were many hikers and bikers in the area so we expected and had no problems. We brought bear spray anyway. On the way up three Ramblers explored a flagged side trail that appeared to be an alternate route. The route did not turn out to be that good and the group met up again on the ridgetop highpoint.

We had a relaxing one hour lunch where we enjoyed the views and got out of the wind. On the way south on the ridge the wind increased and we hurried on towards the trees.

At the usual descent point to the lower trail we decided to extend our ridgewalk, thanks to Francisco for recalling an alternate route down the south end of the ridge. This route proved to be relatively easy and was enjoyed by all.
