Although it was only 5 degrees at the trailhead, a bright sun combined with no wind made the start quite comfortable. Most people soon took off one layer of clothing as they walked. The trail alternated between bare (in the the sun) and covered with a few centimetres of fresh snow (in the shade). The campground was open already, but we managed to snag a few tables at our usual lunch stop along the Bow River.

Because of the large beaver dam on the lake at Many Springs, the boardwalk is floating and will sink a few centimetres as you walk over it.
