About 12:30 pm, just above tree-line we stopped for a short lunch break looking at an earlier group ascending the final slope. They skied down as we were having lunch and (surprise) the Golden Rambler Bob stopped by to say hi. Bob was skiing with Geoff(sp?) and Marvin(sp?) from Golden - nice guys who had broken a nice line for us up to the summit. Good skiing in the alpine on this slope prompted them to do another lap. Liz and Grant also did a short extra lap in the upper part.Great views at the summit and wonderful to have a more Rockies bluebird day(there have n't been much this winter) - we could see a lot of Wapta peaks and peaks to the west - I heard a discussion with the Golden experts on Laussedat a prominent peak that deserves more press IMO. A third group joined us and one of their members caused me some puzzlement by saying "I am glad I do n't have to ski that boring road" .... and I am wondering is he going to bush-bash the summer trail ..... no after we had left the summit we saw him para glide off the summit - a beautiful day with not much wind.
On descent there was good skiing in the top third, unfortunately the skiing deteriorated lower down. Alas the valley had not got enough sun / radiant heat to generate some corn. Back at the road things were straightforward to get to the car around 4:30 pm. Damian's GPS recorded 21.6km and an elev gain of 1365m.
Thanks to the Golden boys and Terry, Damian, Liz, Bill and guest Grant for braving the nasty driving earlier in the day - a great day for me to finally ski this one (fourth attempt).
