There were no issues getting up on to the ridge and proceeding to the high point above Katherine Lake.
The lack of recent snow in the last few weeks was apparent throughout the trip, with large sections of the upper peak slopes relatively snow free. The ski down to Katherine Lake was on firm but not icy snow - which did allow for linked turns. In the absence of fresh powder, the group proceeded on to the boulder above Katherine Lake for a sunny lunch and scenery break.
The group then headed into Dolomite Pass and traversed the valley on the East side of Dolomite Peak to the unnamed col leading to the Mosquito Creek drainage.
The run down from the col was in the sun on firm packed (not icy)snow - which again allowed for some more turns.
The exit through the trees to the highway was reasonable , except for a 100 metre section on the upper part, which was like glue. One of the trip members did suffer a muscle pull in his leg on this section. Everyone was back down to the road by 3:45 PM. The trip was completed in 6 hours. Total distance 19 km, and total elevation gain 650 metres. Thanks to Arnold, Ed, Jeannine, Doug, Bill, Manfred, Terry and guest Elizabeth Westberg for joining me Kevin (C/S) on this classic ski tour in the Rockies.
