Ribbon C Ski Trails (Skogan Pass) Trail Skiing on 30-Nov-2013

As predicted, the conditions were somewhat icy lower down, but still acceptable. After some fast driving by one member, we left from Ribbon Creek parking just before 10.00am. Nakiska was not busy. With 2 using half-length skins, one full skins and one on good wax we made steady progress in -3c temperatures to reach the Skogan Pass picnic table by 12 noon for lunch. Little wind except at the actual pass.

On the fast descent we decided to detour over via the Skogan Pass viewpoint and then to the Hummingbird Plume lookout for another longer break.

. Then back to the Nakiska lodge by 3.00pm on a fast trail, partially chopped up by inconsiderate walkers. We passed the sole other cross-country skier (with dog) ascending near the parking lot. Although some enjoyed coffee here, all were back in Calgary by 5.00pm. About 24km, 700m in 6 hours. Thanks to Sim, Jim and Kevin for joining C&S David. The snow was not as good as Elk pass the previous day nor here last week but still a good day out.
