Rummel L snowshoe Snowshoeing on 28-Jan-2012

Once again the coordinator had the good fortune to be the only man with 5 lovely ladies! And, what a good day we had... who knew a trip to Rummel Lake could be so much fun!

The trip to Rummel Lake was much like any other as we followed the trail to the lake where we found a log to sit on for lunch. After lunch we went for bonus points and generally followed the summer trail to treeline at the valley above the lake. There we paused for a moment before a fun descent down a drainage - some dodging tree wells and some falling in.

Then back to the lake and the trail down, where we stopped at the bridge and decided to try following the creek down. With help trailbreaking from Carolyn and Brenda we followed the creek till we were down as far as the cut blocks. At that time we found a fairly easy way out of the creek and into a cutblock. Knowing that the creek ran towards the north (as compared with the trail) we knew we had to head back south as we continued a gradual descent. We managed to hit the trail a mere 200 feet from the cars!

Thanks to Carolyn, Trudy, Denise, Karen and Brenda for a strenuous but great day! David c/s/p
