Sawmill (Red, Green ) leisurely pace Trail Skiing on 8-Jan-2012

Warm chinook conditions continued with the temperature at the parking lot of -1 deg. C in the morning rising to 2 deg. C by afternoon. Lots of snow has recently fallen at the Sawmill area so we had to break trail through 10 to 15 cm all day. All of the trail maps and signs have been removed, however a barely visible snowshoe track helped to guide the route. Only one snowshoe trail marked with red diamond signs. Little maintenance has taken place as several trees have fallen across the trail. Waxing was challenging and after three tries, purple for the full length of the ski provided traction without too much build up.
