Redoubt Lake Trail Hike on 24-Sep-2011

What a great day for a larch hike! The air was clear, the sky was blue and the larches were in their prime.

The Skoki valley doesn't see near as many people as the other areas around Lake Louise. Maybe because of the initial 4km of hiking on a road. We decided it was a small price to pay for the scenery.

We set off from the cars at 9:50am and in about an hour we were in the larches. We encountered few other people on the trail - mostly fishermen. We arrived at Ptarmigan Lake at Boulder Pass at 12:30 where we stopped briefly and then continued over the rocks and up grassy slopes to Redoubt Lake. Lunch was near the outlet stream (waterfall) where we enjoyed a full hour basking in the sun and checking out the views.

After lunch we headed back down to Ptarmigan lake and delayed our return by finishing a circuit of the lake. We were back to the cars by shortly after 5.

Thanks to a great group for their company: Brenda, Ivan, Enrique, Mohsen and Gerard. David c/s/p
