Mt. Turret Scramble on 26-Jul-2010

This turned out to be an expensive day since I got a speeding ticket just past COP and I lost my camera as we left Blueberry Trial and headed up towads Turret. Three of us left Elk Pass Parking Lot and walked along the trail towards Blueberry Hill trail. We did some bushwacking along Fox Creek to reduce the trail time. After walking along Blueberry Trail we headed west through the bush up to Turret.--invalid photo12883--
Luckily, we found some animal trails; however, there were quite a few willows. On reaching the base of Turret, we went left (south) and could see Mt. Fox and Mt. Foch. There is a very good animal trail which traverses the base of the mountain and leads to the west side of mountain which allows a easy scramble to the ridge which leads to the summit which we reached at 3 pm. (We found a huge cairn but no register.) Fabulous panoramic views.

.After playing "name that mountain" and "what's that one?" we descended the way we came except that when we reached Blueberry Trail we continued to the summit with the picnic table and then bushwacked down to the parking lot at the upper Day Use of Kanaskis Lake where there was a car waiting for us. This bushwack was mae relatively easy by animal trails. The bushwack reduced the return time by one hour. To avoid the bushwack, return the same way.

This was a scramble 5 and 13km trip. Thanks to Rick C. and Adrian C. for their company.

PS Carl found the camera a month later on one of a myriad of game trails on the east side of The Turret! And amazingly, it seems to still be working! CVM
