From the drainage on the final approach to Shark Lake we set off up a ridge to the SW. We continued heading SW through open forest, some old cutblocks and the odd former logging road. We stopped in a cutblock for lunch with great views up Bryant Creek and Spray Lake. We could even see our intended destination of Watridge Lake.
After lunch we set out again and came "oh so close" to reaching Watridge lake. We crossed Watridge Creek well below Karst Spring and soon hit very thick forest. We had set a turn around time of 2:30 and after hitting the dense forest we decided to turn back. We followed our trail back reaching the cars at 5pm and were glad we turned back when we did.
It was a great day of snowshoeing the way it was meant to be. Lots of trail breaking and great views. Thanks to Jennifer, Barbara, Brenda (scribe), Sharon, Murray, Jean, Janet, Elise, Jerome (photos), Sharon, Andy and Karen for a great day. David coordinator.
