Jumpingpound Ridge from north Trail Hike on 13-Jul-2008
After successfully navigating the road construction at the north end of Hwy 68, we arrived at the Lusk Pass trailhead. We took cars up to the bottom of the Summit trail for a car shuttle, rushed back to the rest and set off up the trail towards Jumping Pound Mtn.

Cox Hill from Jumping Pound trailIn trees up to the Cox Hill junction, we did have a few views of Cox.

Catherine in a meadow of flowersThen it was up through continuous meadows filled with brightly coloured flowers. The flowers are close to tops in beauty now but should last another week or 2.

Nearing the TopFinally we neared the top but the wind was picking up and clouds were moving in. Lunch at the summit where some donned light jackets, prepared for a bit of sprinkle of rain which never came.

Setting out for Second PeakAfter a discussion, we decided to try for the 2nd peak along the east ridge with option to go further.

Returning to main peak, Brian checks the GPS & map However, it seemed quite cool on Peak 2 and the main peak was going to need a climb of around 75 m so we opted to return. There were small patches of snow in shady places and in the lee of the ridge.
One of the group had gone missing. Apparently feeling chilly, this person decided to lunch back down on the meadow, forgetting to tell anyone where. Then this one fell asleep, woke up after awhile feeling confused and headed off down the trail. Fortunately this person (who shall be nameless) did meet some people who showed the right way down. We did spend a good deal of time searching but finally went down the Summit trail, hoping to find our lost soul at the cars and Yes, happy ending.
Moral: ALWAYS TELL SOMEONE IN THE GROUP, PREFERABLY THE COORDINATOR, WHERE YOU ARE GOING.
