There was one stream crossing which two did with boots on, one with water shoes, one with bare feet. We were about an hour from departing the car to starting the hike up the south ridge of Mary Barclay's Mtn.
The ridge becomes progressively steeper and more exposed as one climbs. The really good thing is that there is essentially no scree.
We were about 2 1/2 hours from the bikes to the top where we enjoyed a well deserved break.
We followed Nugara's suggestion (and Ealaine's trip in descending towards Lorette and then down the drainage between the two.
There were some tricky bits getting down to the main creekbed in the valley.
On the way back, one brave soul tried to ride across the stream.
Many thanks to Ealaine for doing the trip on Sunday and assuring us that it was snow free and a great scramble, to Stan for transporting us all with bikes in his van, to Bill for his invaluable knowledge of flowers and mountaineering and his photos, and to Becky for her enthusiasm and for providing a distaff element.
