Big Elbow Trail- Little Elbow Campground to south Trail Hike on 21-Oc

Temperature hovered near zero as we started our walk. Talked a lot and admired the view as we got into the more open valley, so we missed the bright orange sign indicating the "three mountain trail" at the campground. (For future reference it is about 0.9 km past the forded creek.)

We headed east through the light brush and five crossed the Big Elbow. The other eight went back along the river looking for a better place to cross. This lead to separate lunch spots, arm waving signals across the water... and the five went on to the planned destination and some great views.

For example Banded Peak.

We rejoined on the walk back, and debated whether the arm waving had meant "go on ahead"/ "join us for lunch" or "see you later". On the way back we met a class of school kids, heading out for 2 nights camping.
