Cox Hill Trail Hike on 4-Oct-2007

In spite of the weather we had a good day traversing Cox Hill from north to south.
We set off at 10:20 after placing a shuttle car at the Lusk Pass trailhead. It was cool but dry and there was little to no snow on the ground until we got to the viewpoint about 2/3 of the way up. Then the forecasted poor weather set in.

Here comes the snow!

Soon we were up into old snow as well a couple of inches of brand new snow.

The squall more or less blew through and the snow stopped as we reached the summit.

We descended down to the col between Cox Hill and Jumpingpound Ridge for a fairly quick lunch. Funny that temps around zero are fine in the middle of the ski season, but such a drag when hiking. We were at the south trail head at around 3:00.

Distance 12 km, vertical 870 m (including the short climb up to the Jumpingpound Ridge descent trail.

Many thanks to a small but enthusiastic group of participants Eva, Nancy, Peter and Ron, Coordinator and scribe Carl.

And finally:
