Tumbling-Rockwall-Helmet circuit Trail Hike on 18-Aug-2007
We had a great and successful day on the "One Day Rockwall" with a very strong group.
After meeting at 6:00, we left the Paint Pots just before 8:00. It was a cool 6 degrees at the start but we soon warmed up.

First (of several) suspension bridge crossingsWe stopped to regroup at trail intersections and for short breaks at Tumbling Creek Falls and also the campground. We were up at Wolverine Pass a little before noon.

Break at Wolverine Pass

At Wolverine PassFrom there it is a short trek to Rockwall Pass.

At Rockwall Pass (the Rockwall in the background)

Tumbling Glacier from Rockwall Pass (some fire haze)We took a second longer break at Limestone Summit and then descended to Helmet Creek with great views of Helmet Falls. With the help of binoculars we could spot one Rocky Mountain Goat beside the lower part of the falls.

At Helmet Creek Warden CabinThe Weather was great until we hit Helmet Creek and then the promised 30% chance of showers became a walk in the rain and through wet vegetation for the last 30% of our trip.
And so we finally arrived back at the cars shortly after 7:00, looking somewhat damp and bedraggled but jubilant about having completed this 38 km tour with about 1200 m of climb.
Thanks to Ivan for calling and coordinating, participants Jeannine, Susan, Gary, Bob, John, Michael, and Carl (scribe).
