Princess Margaret Mountain 144686 Scramble on 24-Sep-2005

Good weather for a fall day, a fun group, and a hike that is not called too often were the ingredients to make a great day in the mountains. Princess Margaret was the goal as we started out from Harvey Heights. We followed the road from the NW corner towards the big tower. This road now extends to a quarry at the base of the south ridge. This is way easier than bush whacking. We went straight up the south ridge to it's top (142677)

The intial part of this ridge is in trees and we had to get up the occasional grey rock slabs that were somewhat greasy. Just before the top of this south ridge, grey rock slabs were encountered, and even though they were quite sticky, they were also steep.

From 142677, we proceeded across a connecting col towards Princess Margaret. Staying on the right side of this connector, and eventually moving over to it's left to ascend scree.

After the gully, there is a short, narrow ridge section before leading to easy scree to the top. Some of us traversed along the top of Princess Margaret towards the large pyramid shape rock, but stopped short of that goal by a downclimb that required a rope.
