Tower Lake, Rockbound Lake Trail Hike on 19-Aug-2004

A beautiful, somewhat hot, humid day for a hike. The trip dispersed at the Rockbound parking lot. 3 of us headed up to Rockbound. My husband decided to do something more difficult and headed up to Helena ridge. Arnold, John, Eva and Paul decided to follow him. Joanne, Nancy and I passed the huge blooms of mushrooms on the way up to the lake as well as very picturesque cotton grass at Tower Lake. At the lake we met a grandmother with her 2 grandchildren. One of the boys who seemed to belong to a swim club made a valiant effort to take a swim in the lake. He didn't stay in long even though the water was a bit warmer than usual (I tested it with my feet). We were going to start back after an hour at the lake but Nancy noticed climbers on the highpoint of the ridge. We ended up watching them go up. It turned out to be Arnold, Bill and John. After another pleasant hour we headed out and met Paul and Eva at the parking lot. They had gone up part way but decided to turn around and following Arnold's advice came through the valley. They sounded like they enjoyed the meadows. The others met us back at Nancy's where Arnold told us they had done more elevation than he had done on his final day at Assiniboine. Must of been a good trip.
