Crowfoot Mtn north peak Scramble on 26-Aug-2023

Mount Andromache was named by the Alpine Club of Canada for Andromache, who in Greek mythology was the wife of Hector. But Mount Hector to the south was named in 1884 after James Hector a geologist on the Palliser Expedition. Noseem Peak to the north of Andromache, then comes the Dolomite Peaks. Named in 1897 for the resembance to the Dolomites of the Italian Alps. Composed of sedimentary rock laid down during the Precambrian to Jurassic periods, then pushed east and over the top of younger rock during the Laramide Orogency. To the west Crowfoot mountain named in 1959 after the glacier, which sits upon it's northeastern flank. And it is on this Crowfoot mountain that we take our adventure on this 26th day of August 2023.

Meeting at Bow Lake, making a move across the chokestone the trail picks up in steepness once we clear the treeline. A steady accent up this sedimentary rock, reaching the softer limestone towards and on the summit provided a natural kaleidoscope of color, weathered down, erroded by the years of time draws us here.

Smiles all around I believe, cool breeze to keep us alert.

A enjoyable lunch break, being joined by others as they to experiance what nature put forth. Off again we venture to the north lower summit, views of Bow Lake far below, and Iceberg Lake to the west and the glaciers the hold seemingly steadfast.

A wonderful fun day!

The decent has to come, warmer as we move lower into the valley again, then the busier trail below back to the parking area. And it is within this story, and the conversation that was shared thru the day that new ideas are born, that our history comes into play, these great National Parks of Canada. For the closing act at Bow Lake, cool, but not real cold was the answer, clear waters.
