Brutally cold start to the day. High winds out of the west made the -16 c start ugly. Heading straight into the strong wind made my face hurt. Things improved in the shelter of the trees where we warmed up quickly. The first lap was on a meter five of snow with 10 cm new on a bit of a melt crust. Old hard tracks added a signifant challenge to the descent. Our 2nd lap was on mellower terrain but the trees and fast snow kept our speed down. The third lap was in deep shade with no melt crust .Soft calf deep ski penetration with the odd turn cutting a lot deeper in the snow pack .

On the old road

Lunch was very nice in the warm sun. +4C with light wind when we returned to the cars .
