What a perfect day to do a classic Calgary summit! It was the first day of summer, and it certainly felt like it, with lots of sun and less wind than usual at the top (probably a mere 30 km/h). The meadows below treeline were filled with shooting stars, forget-me-nots, jacob’s ladder, and potentilla, and the alpine had draba and saxifrage oppositifolia that were almost finished.

Without hurrying, we reached the summit in exactly 2 hours and sat for a leisurely lunch that included a marmot sighting, Richard identifying peaks, and no other people. It was another 2 hours back to the car, during which we met lots of people and dogs coming up.

Many thanks to Richard and guest Heather Hedges for joining me and for the lively conversation that made even the long hill back to the car quite enjoyable, from coordinator Ingrid.
