In November, its always a bonus to get a sunny day in the mountains when its not too cold or snowy. This was one of those days.

When we left the virtually empty trail head parking lot at 8.30am it was only just daylight and -3c. There was about 4 cms of new snow on the ground which made some steeper sections a bit slick. However, non-one actually used micro-spikes. Surprisingly, most of the group had not done this trip before.

The walk up the Skogan trail /old road went smoothly with a few breaks for clothing adjustments etc. We took a slightly longer break at treeline before venturing on to the ridge.

We then continued to the north peak for a snack break and photos.

While the sun felt warm, there was enough of a breeze that we decided to retreat back to treeline for lunch. Then up to the south summit with an antenna attached to an empty locked small building. Here we even talked politics. We descended via a rather rough trail through some cliff bands back to the main trail which we followed with a stop or two (for clothing adjustment) to the now full parking lot and +3c. We passed several other parties going up while we were going down. But 2 young ladies, running down in shorts over rather red legs, passed us during our descent. The new snow had mostly melted off. I found it a very enjoyable day with good sunny weather, only minor wind and great company.

Stats: about 15km, 1050m elevation gain in 6:45hrs. Essentially as estimated (sometimes I get it right).

Participants: David,Jim,Sonja,Gordon,Jenny,Rob,Brian,Deb.
