Thanks to the arbitrary and discriminatory decision of Parks Canada to close the 1A to vehicular traffic we had to walk an extra 10 minutes (OW) to get to the Fireside trailhead. The uneventful trail to Edith Pass was made memorable by the swarms of mosquitos. We reached the pass in about 3 hours , we enjoyed a long lunch in very pleasant conditions , disappointingly the views were obscured by thick smoke and only the near peaks were visible. After a hot descent we stopped by the creek to cool off before returning to the cars.
