The desire to get out into the mountains before the cold temperatures arrived motivated us to do a relatively long hike up and down the hills east of Fullerton loop. The temperature was -6C at 10:00am when we started and 2C when we returned to the Fullerton parking lot at 3:30pm after wandering 17.6kms through the hills. We went up Sugar Daddy then took Strange Brew to Boundary before ending the circuit with Snagmore. These trails were new to most of the participants.

The weather was warmish with a cold wind that reached us on Boundary ridge requiring sheltering in the lee as we had a short 20 minute lunch. Once out of the wind and as the sun became more prominent in the afternoon, the layers came off. A few centimetres of snow had fallen the day before covering the icy sections on the trails. Only one person felt compelled to don a pair of small spikes to navigate the hidden slippery sections. Photos courtesy Audrey.

The chinook brought warmer temperatures and a cold wind.

The new snow on the trail reduced slipping.
