Flowers, flowers, flowers. I’ve always taken this hike in the early spring and so have missed the fantastic flower display at this time of year. Granted that there was heavy highway traffic and lots of people in the picnic areas, but a trip here in July needs to be repeated.

A few of the many flowers on display were Western Wood Lily, Brown Eyed Susan, Purple Vetch, Yellow Ladyslipper, Round leaf orchid, Striped Coralroot, Fleabane, Flax, Paintbrush and Blue-eyed grass (Thanks Brieta for the list).

Although there was a bear warning at Middle Lake, it had obviously been scared off by the many people around.
