Trail conditions were great on Wasootch Ridge - no mud and only a few small snow patches - spikes definitely not required!

There were several parking spots remaining in the main parking lot when we started our hike at 9am. We overshot the start of the steep trail by a short distance....when we turned around we saw that the start of the trail was obscured by a large partial teepee structure - easy to walk around, but explained why none of saw what is usually a very obvious start to the trail.

Jackets were not needed for the first 3/4 of the hike, but there was a cold strongly gusting wind for the remainder of the ascent.

Snack Break

Most of us had lunch in the shelter of a rock wall near the 2nd Cairn, with 2 people going further for lunch at the windbreak and returning to join the group at the main lunch spot; 2 people found the wind gusts too strong or cold, and remained near the 1st cairn where the full group got together again. We were out of the wind fairly quickly on the return, and experienced warm summer conditions as we neared the parking.

Returning down the ridge

There were several small groups hiking, but no problems with passing on the trail as there are lots of braided paths. The parking lot was full, with several cars parked on both sides of the access road partway down, but still lots of room on that road to park when we returned around 2pm.
