We had a lovely early spring hike in the Sheep Valley. There was a couple of inches of fresh snow on top of a firm base, so excellent conditions for our outing. Views were great.

Our route went along Long Prairie Ridge, then down to join the Death Valley Trail, which we followed back to the road and crossed it into the Sandy McNabb recreation area. At the south end of the area, we left the ski trail and went up the several Sandy McNabb hills, stopping for lunch on one of them. We carried on down and up a couple more hills to the end of the ridge. After a photo stop there, we returned on our trail to the base of the second hill, then went through the gate in the fence to walk beside the ski trails back to our cars at Sheep Station.

We didn't see any wildlife, but in addition to deer tracks, we frequently saw large wolf tracks along and across our trails.
