We arrived under cloudy skies which were the order of the day except for the occasional, fleeting sun breakthrough. The snow was on the warmish side so purplish-bluish waxes worked best. After a brief break at the top of WhiskeyJack it was easy going up Tyrwhitt where there was some new snow of a slightly colder variety. It was a smooth run down to the Tyrwhitt picnic table which was available for a leisurely lunch. Then it was up to Elk Pass where a friendly ski patroller took a group photo:

The run down to the picnic table at Blueberry junction was fast and smooth and there we met up with Terry who was returning from a day trip to Elk Park cabin with a friend, and also Lennard & Doug returning from today's Rambler snowshoe to Blueberry lookout. It was a smooth run down Elk Pass trail:

There had been warnings about possible trees down on Fox Creek but the tracksetter crew had been on it and cleared the path; the snow was also generally good with little evidence of tree bombs. Moraine trail back to our Boutlton trailhead was also okay, with the schuss down to the moraine viewpoint having just enough loose snow to keep things under control. Laszlo's gps measured 19.2 km and total vertical gain of 393 metres.

Thanks everybody for joining me for a fun day. Participants: Ron C/S/P, Laszlo, Bruce, Anne, Barbara, John.
