A pleasant start at -15C from the Peninusula parking lot saw 4 Ramblers head across the lake and up the old exploration road under partially cloudy skies. We ripped the skins off at the third switch back and had a great ski down the gully with boot top ski penetration. It had warmed to -7C.

While putting the skins on I heard a loud crunch and turned around to see John romancing a large tree. Fortunately the tree was not hurt.We continued up through the forest past the first switch back and deskinned above and east of the second switch back. Another delightful run ending with a very entertaining almost vertical drop onto the road .

We enjoyed that so much that we did it twice more. On the way down we passed on doing the avi run down to the creek. Not enough snow.

Total elevation gain 660 meters. Returned to the cars at 4 pm. The trip home on the highway involved travelling through major snow storms . Unfortunately none of the snow fell west of the Banff townsite or in the Smith-Dorrien !

Participants: Bill, John, Damian, Ed

Special thanks to Bill for the photos .
