A first for Ramblers. Ten of us left the Lusk Creek Day Use parking lot and headed back towards the road to start climbing the open slope of Horton Hill. After huffing and puffing, we reached a small open meadow where we had a fine view of Barrier Lake.

We continued climbing steadily through the woods until we met the trail coming up from Tim Horton's Ranch. (This was flagged with yellow). We followed along the trail until we reached the summit of Horton Hill. From Horton Hill we needed to descend 30 vertical feet of serious bushwacking. Once we started climbing up we were in open forest and easily attained the high point on the ridge where we had lunch, and enjoyed TimBits.

Overall, a very enjoyable day. The only bushwacking was on the descent. The intermittent views, pleasant walking and good company made this a worthwhile trip. Thanks to Philip (photos), Susan, Margo, Bill, Jim, Carl, Inge, Janice and Bob for accompanying me on this adventure. (Left the parking lot at 9:22 and arrived 3:03 pm at the cars). 8 km 596 m elevation gain.
