It was a great day to be hiking in the mountains – moderate temperatures, beautiful blue sky, and a light cooling breeze. There were not a lot of cars at the trailhead when we left at 10 AM.
Although there were lots of other flowers to be seen, this was the time for Western Wood Lilies, as there were large numbers in full bloom.

After a leisurely lunch, we descended back down a busy trail to arrive at the cars by 3 PM. There was a little heart racing drama at the end , as a car slammed on its breaks to allow us to cross the road. The vehicles behind did not have enough time to stop, so they headed for the shoulder and ditch (where we were standing). Fortunately, the lead car saw what was happening and pulled out, allowing the other to regain control.
Thanks to Brieta, Madeleine, Anne, Linda ,Robert, Jennifer, and Bill for joining me on this hike. Brian C/S/P
