When I posted this trip on Wednesday the weather forecast did n't look promising for the weekend with Saturday the best day with 40% chance of showers. I decided we might be able to get a short front range trip before the showers and we did. As I suspected we were not alone on this one as we headed up the trail just after 9:15 am. After regrouping where the scrambling starts we followed the blue squares on an easy trail to the "chains". Some other groups contributed this day to the myriad of other trails developing on the north side of Yam but they all looked, to me, less desirable than the "blue squares" one. The chain traverse makes this one a scramble but the chain makes it safer than it appears in photos.

At the chain traverse Sim bypassed the chains and descended the "chimney route" remembered by many of the group as a preferred route before the chains were installed (20+ years ago?).

After the chains there was some easy scrambling then trail to the summit.

After lunch on the summit we headed down arriving at the busy, more or less full, trailhead parking around 1:45 pm.

Summit Mount Yamnuska: Gary, Sim, Jeannette, Sonja, Barbara, Kevin, David, Manfred and John.

We had no rain on the hike but did get a few bits of showers on the way back to Calgary in the car. Thanks to participants: Sim,David,Manfred,Jeannette,Kevin,Sonja,Barbara,Gary from John for sharing a short but dry and enjoyable trip. Thanks to Kevin for nice photos of the chain traverse and other ones.
