Not quite as planned. I hadn't done this trip for at least 3 years and there were a few changes. We parked at Daffern's 'access 3' by the 1A hwy and set off down the somewhat overgrown trail. We came to the first hazard, water, but this was easily by-passed. Then the next obstacle, a mess of downed trees.

Next Hazard - downed trees

The views across Reed lake were great as were the many flowers we found.

Reed Lake

Then we came to the major and insurmountable obstacle - a very shiny new chain link fence which stretched north and south as far as we could see. No way around and no way to walk along the side of it. We had no choice but to turn back.

Final Hazard - solid fence

Clouds made the temperatures a bit cooler and gave some interesting photo chances.

Back beside Reed lake we saw a pair of loons quite far out on the lake (hence the small bird in the big expanse of water) but a real treat.

Many thanks to Brieta and Narayan for joining me and not complaining a bit about the aborted trip length. C/s/p Dorothy-Ann
