We set off under a brilliant blue sky with just enough breeze to keep us cool. The trail is in good condition and the warning about the missing bridge proved false. All bridges intact. We did the loop counter-clockwise which allowed us to get the elevation done before lunch plus the chance to see Moose Mtn from many viewpoints.

Moose Mtn - almost clear of all snow

Very few other walkers but many bikes, especially after 12. We did stop to 'smell' the flowers and Krystyna took many pictures. I added one of the bearberry flowers because the base of the flowers is translucent so that when they grow 'bottoms up', light gets into the blossom.

We stopped at the camping area for lunch. Only one car was left to do the cleanup - they told us there had been 50 campers there for the weekend. The only wildlife we saw was a fuzzy caterpillar scurrying out of our way

Many thanks to Brianand Krystyna for joining me while I re-learn hiking. I am definitely not ready for Opal Ridge. This was Krystyna's first hike as a trial member and we hope she joins Ramblers for many more. C/s/p Dorothy-Ann
