Showing a stiff upper lip to the snow storm warnings, 5 Ramblers set off for the Elk Pass Trailhead, were the vehicles were parked (ie abandoned) in heavy snow drifts. Frigid temperatures deterred us not, and led by the trail breaking prowess of Jill, Richard and Philip (with help from a much younger Canmore couple) we reached Elk Pass in a speedy 3 ½ hours.

From this point, the trail had been broken by a group returning from the hut, so it was easy sailing to the cabin where dinner, stories, and trivia games awaited.

The morning dawned bright and cold. Trail breaking to explore the area did not appeal, nor did trailbreaking through West Elk Pass, and so we returned to the cars the way we came.

Thanks to the trail breakers, to Philip for pictures, to Richard for firewood, and to all for their good cheer. Jill, Rosanne,Philip,Richard, c/s Stan
