We drove out to the mountains under a mix of sun and fog but as we progressed on Highway 40, the sun came out and stayed out the remainder of the day.  At the trailhead we met a couple of young fellas from an engineering firm that had been hired by Alberta Parks to inventory trails and record the trail with a 360 degree camera.  We crossed paths and chatted with them many times over the day.

We were at the lake in a little under two hours where we stopped for a break.  Then on up to the pass which was reach in about 3 hours from the trailhead.  The first of the two tarns in the upper valley was dry but the second one had water in it. There was only a light breeze at the pass and we had the place all to ourselves for at least half an hour, then a group of three arrived.  There was a slight haze in the sky but it was otherwise a beautiful day.

On the way back down we came across a ptarmigan and three chicks as well as two families of grouse.  Another break at the lake and we were back down to the cars by 4:30.

Thanks to the group for a great day out! Brenda c/s/p
