Four of us arrived at the trail head at about 10:00 am. On the way to the trail head we saw one deer crossing the road. The parking lot beside Grizzly Creek was empty. It was a bit chilly but we warmed up very quickly after heading up the steep trail to King Creek Ridge. The trail through the forest was fine but higher up it was hard packed with the tiny rocks on it, so going up was much easier than going down.

First part of a steep trail behind us.

After about an hour and twenty minutes of going up, we arrived at the ridge. We had a short snack break before continuing along the ridge. The views were spectacular. The air was clear and the sky was blue. It was getting warmer but not too hot, we enjoyed a refreshing breeze on the top of the ridge.

We reached the end of the ridge at about 12:15 pm and had a lunch break. We spent about an hour admiring the views and talking. Then we were on our way back to the parking lot.

Some flowers are gone but Death Camas, Golden Rods, and Harebells are still alive.

We were back at the car about 3:10 pm. It was a very pleasant day in the mountains. We stopped at the Fortress Gas Station and had ice-cream. On the way back we saw two herds of sheep on the side of the road, and a grizzly bear feeding on some berries in the ditch.

Big thanks to Ron, Katrin, and Jeannette for awesome company, scribe Teresa.
