The first part of the ridge is wide and easy going, the views into the valleys were excellent. We traversed south along the wide section and slid down some snow that was located at the intersection of our ridge and a ridge that went west to join into Grotto Mountain.
The ridge narrowed and the SC6 portion started. Everything was dry and the slab rock allowed for great traction. Had some downclimbs in certain sections.
We made Gap Peak by approx 3:30pm and had another lunch.
From Gap peak we headed west for the final descent. Dave took a group of three and followed the Kane route down to the Grotto Creek, and the rest went down the front of the mountain (an exploratory). Dave's group was down by 7:00pm and the rest of us were down by 9:30pm.
We tavelled 21 kms and total gain for the day was 1610 meters (more for the exploratory group).
My group should be praised for working together in finding the route down. We all helped each other and watched for the "best" route down. Good day and a great group.
