Healy Pass Off-Trail skiing on 18-Nov-2022
It was kinda cool, but a spectacular day nevertheless. Even some nice turns in the meadows.
We set out from the Sunshine parking lot a little before 10. It was quite cool (around -18c) but it's not hard to stay warm on the trail. The skies were so clear that it was impossible not to be glad to be out.

Jane and Sim at the first clearing with a great view of Monarch Ramparts At our "moderate Rambler pace" we made it up to Healy Pass around 1:00 and had lunch there. Luckily there was no wind.

Jane, Sim, Rainer and Mike at Healy Pass (Eagle and Howard Douglas Mts and Great Divide chair in bkg) You can see that we had quite an assortment of ski equipment.

Quite the Variety! 80's era Karhus, 90's Tuas and K2s, 00's kids skis, and boring current AT skis While there wasn't much depth of snow, the skiing down the gentle slopes below Healy Pass was actually quite lovely.

Jane and some of our turns in Healy Meadows The descent of the Healy Pass trail was a challenge for those of us on "skinnier" skis. The snow was quite nice, but this early in the season the trail isn't as wide as it is later.
We were back at the cars a little after 3.
