We set off from the Lineham Creek parking lot at 9am and after a pleasant walk through the woods with a steady moderate uphill, we reached the washed out area and dropped down onto the flood debris and rocks along the creek. The short section over the dirt and deadfall slide area was a little interesting but not bad and we soon climbed up the short steep section to enter the woods on Lineham Ridge itself. We took our first break as we entered the more open area with views down into the Lineham Creek valley. We had our first lunch stop on the open grassy area just past the rocky ridge. Then it was up onto the long open ridge.

. We reached our turn-around point at the "post" for our main lunch and nap time.

Unfortunately, the normally spectacular views were largely obscured by smoke. The cornices were much smaller than normal in mid-July, but there were some nice views down into the upper parts of Lineham valley.

Soon it was time to return along the ridge.

On our last major break just before we left the open ridge, the 4 men were relaxing on a rocky promontory, while the 4 ladies were closer to the trail. According to the ladies, the men were taking too long a break (or perhaps, we were just admiring the views more?) and to get us moving, the ladies even offered to carry the men's packs down!
