After discussing how to get some relief from the heat wave, Rosanne and I thought a visit to the new lookout on Moose Mtn. would fit the bill. Despite a relatively tardy start of 9:30, we managed to find parking spots. The temperature was around 16, --refreshing. The trail was in good shape with some soft snow patches in places, particularly in shady spots and in the lee of exposed sections.

View to the top

Near the summit we encountered signs warning against trespassing which was a bit of a change from the old days, but at least
the heavy cement lunch table remained in place. We decided to have a fairly short lunch break among the rocks on the SE side of the summit due to wind gusts.

Descent towards the east

After descending the summit block and climbing up from the col, we regrouped for dessert and a little friendly banter in a rock wind break.

Rest on the return

We arrived back at the cars pretty much on schedule. I was surprised at the number of mountain bikers on the service road down the hill.

Thanks to all for a pleasant outing.
