South Volcano Ridge Off-Trail hike on 15-Jul-2020
It was another good day for a hike. On the way to the trailhead, most of us observed a black bear with 3 cubs watching us from the side of the road. The first part of the trail was heavily chewed up by horses and it took some delicate manoeuvrings to avoid stepping in the evidence of their passing. Once we crossed the creek, we had a pleasant hike through the woods up to the north end of South Volcano Ridge where we had lunch.

Contemplating Our Lunch Spot At Summit of RidgeFor a change, there was enough wind to prevent us from being bothered by flies and other insects., so we had time to contemplate the views in all directions and to watch two hawks lazily circling below us to the west.

Down the RidgeWhile resting at the bottom of the ridge, Joe, who owns an e-Bike, said that he thought that most of our hike could have been done on one (combined with some heavy human assistance). I suspect that it is only a matter of time before we will encounter them on the trails.
Thanks to Joe, Madeleine (photos), Carl (photo), Carmie, Linda, Robert, Peter, Mary, Douglas and Bill for joining me on this nice hike. Brian C/S
