Though it was earlier in the season than I’ve normally called this hike, it turned out to be a very enjoyable day. We had sunny skies with sometimes a cold wind once we got out of the trees, so coats were donned then taken off when we descended back into the trees.

There were a variety of hiking speeds so occasionally we regrouped and everyone had a long enough lunch break before becoming too cold. Views are always exceptional on this ridge. Some participants hadn’t done this hike before, one was delighted to finally reach the top after not doing so the last time, and one person was on their second Rambler hike. On the way down we meet a group from the Sheep River Ramblers. This is the first time in 7 ascents that I've met another group on this ridge. They were as surprised to see us as we were to see them.

We left the parking lot at 8:30 a.m., negotiated a few wettish spots on the one hour walk to the ridge bottom, had lunch at the top around noon (earlier for the fast folks), and were back at the cars by 3:30 p.m. This included a break on the way up and the way down. It was a very enjoyable day with a companionable group of fellow hikers.
