After this hike was cancelled twice this summer due to bear activity in the area, we finally were able to go up to Chester lake and beyond. The weather cooperated as well , with a cool breeze most of the day.

We had lunch at a nice viewpoint above Elephant Rocks next to a marmot colony, with the marmot’s sharp whistles letting us know that we were in their territory.

There was smoke billowing up behind Mt. Sir Douglas, but the smoke didn’t seem to reach the ground where we were.
