West Bragg Creek trails Trail Hike on 23-Oct-2013
We had a fine day on very nice trails south of the West Bragg Creek parking lot. We did an 18 km loop on Ranger Summit, Fullerton, Snagmore and Boundary Ridge trails.
We left the trailhead a little before 10 with some mist and clouds in the area and the first few points on the Ranger Summit trail with a view were not very rewarding. But the skies cleared and before noon it was a beautiful day and a very comfortable temperature.
These trails almost have to be seen to be believed. They are almost manicured! We surmise that the mountain bikers are doing a lot of the maintenance. They are also very nicely located climbing up to viewpoints, down to junctions, and repeating. The nicest section is probably the Snagmore trail which can be done on a 9 km loop from the Allen Bill parking lot.
I had called for a "modest" pace but all five were quite strong and so we didn't dawdle much, but we did take a few breaks.

Where did Allen Bill Pond go?

Second bench breakWe had lunch a little after noon on the Snagmore trail.

Lunch Break logWe were back at the cars before 3:00, allowing plenty of time for one who had a time constraint.
Many thanks to Jeannette, Bernie, Manfred, and Wallace for joining me, Carl (C/S).
And thanks also to Dorothy-Ann who dragged me out onto some of these trails a few weeks ago.
PS Zero snow on the trails or in the woods. CVM
