Plain of 6 Glaciers loop Trail Hike on 27-Jul-2012

We enjoyed a lovely Friday hike to the Plain of the Six Glaciers, near Lake Louise. We had great hiking conditions – sunny and temperatures starting at a brisk 10 degrees, rising to about 23 degrees by the afternoon. Starting from the Chateau Lake Louise, looking down the calm lake, we could see our destination.

We stopped briefly at Mirror Lake, before heading on to the Plain of Six Glaciers teahouse, where we stopped for our outdoors lunch.

There were nice flowers and a large marmot close to the trail. After lunch we went to the Plain of Six Glaciers lookout, where we heard and saw more avalanches off Mount Victoria.

We returned by the lower Lakeside Trail, and enjoyed the sound and views of the river draining the glaciers into Lake Louise.
