Invincible Lake & Mt Nomad Off-Trail Hike on 2-Aug-2010

Warspite an iffy weather report, our Indefatigable party conquered the blowdowns to the Invincible lake! The bonus trip to Mt Nomad provided great views of the three above-mentioned peaks.
We set off a little after 9:00 and soon were treated to our first road block, a young female moose was on the trail.

The log hopping started as we followed an old road beside Invincible Creek immediately above the Three-isle Lakes trail and didn't stop until we topped out about 500 m up the ridge. We had a break there and then had a much easier time making our way first to Lake Invincible and then on up to Mt Nomad, arriving a little after 1:00.

After a nice lunch break, we headed down the north side of this small mount and traversed back to the lake.

The return seemed easier even if we had a few slips and falls. It had rained a lot the previous days, so we got pretty wet from the bushwhacking, but the rain held off until we were on our drive back. We were back at the cars a little after 5:00
Many thanks to Francisco for coordinating the hike, from participants Hannah, Jeannette, Nardi and Carl (scribe).
PS Alda, Sim and other peak counters. Mt Nomad is a 200 meter bump between Lake Invincible and Mt Invincible, elevation 2544 (about 800 m above the trail head). It's in Peakfinder and Daffern but not in Bivouac or on NTS maps. CVM
