Exshaw Mtn and Ridge Off-Trail Hike on 15-May-2008
Yes, fifteen Ramblers showed up for a mid week hike! Most are retired, but several took a day off work. And what a lovely day it was.
We set out from the new trailhead parking area in Exshaw a little after 9:30, crossed the creek on a bridge and headed directly up Exshaw Mountain from beside the playground.
It took about an hour to get to the mainly treed summit of this small "Mountain".

On Exshaw MountainAfter a short break we headed down to the col and up to Exshaw Ridge which is much higher than the mountain. We arrived at the first summit of the ridge shortly after noon, just in time for lunch.

Lunch spot on first peak of Exshaw RidgeIn walking along the ridge we encounter snow on the descents of the north sides of each mini summit. Other than that the ridge was mainly clear of last week's major snowfall.

Heading along Exshaw Ridge (Mt Fable in the background)We descended off the ridge to arrive at Exchaw Creek about two km above the Fable Creek junction. Below tree line thare was still some snow but generally no more than a few inches.

Heading down Exshaw Creek Some had reason to hurray back to town and went ahead, the last of us were back at the cars around 5:00.
