Paget Lookout & Sherbrooke Lake snowshoe Snowshoeing on 29-Mar-2008
This turned into a "Snowshoe Scramble", which made for a challenging and rewarding trip.
At the Paget/Sherbrooke junction, there were old snowshoe tracks heading towards Paget Lookout. Unfortunately the tracks veered too far right/east and away from the summer trail. We soldiered on past the previous tracks. Eventually we saw a manmade structure above a cliff band, it was the lookout! It did seem that there was a possible scrambly route to the east of the lookout.

Cliff bands below Paget lookout With much difficulty we did get up the cliff band.

Crossing the tricky slope above the cliff bands We were surprized and happy to find the lookout open and had our lunch there.

At Paget Lookout We followed the summer trail down as best we could, but even it was a challenge. There is a hard sun/wind crust under a few inches of fresh snow and we frequently couldn't get a good footing (on the way up annd down).

Descending the summer trail Once back down to the Sherbrooke Lake trail, we found that we still had time to go up to the mid point of Sherbrook Lake before heading home.

At the south end of Sherbrooke LakeThanks to Ivan for calling this trip at my request, to Jeannine for joining us and suggesting that the shovel handle made a reasonable substitute for an ice axe, Carl (scribe).
